mammoth dogWith the end of Spring soccer season and barely a week break since school let out, the Godoy family headed straight into swim team season. (Go Sharks! – Mammoth Lakes Swim Team) The only time I’ve had a chance to peek in on local Mammoth events has been taking advantage of our local hikes with our new puppy (a tired dog is a good dog!)  The trails are filling up again with families as well as backpackers in the middle of the PCT made popular by the recent movie “Wild” based on the book by Cheryl Strayed (I’ve spoken with a few and that really was the influence for their adventure!).  We have also been able to enjoy an earlier hiking season due to the lack of snow fields on the trails in the higher elevations.

Things are heating up here in Mammoth, now that school’s out in Southern California.

This weekend the Mammoth Motocross continues with sightings of Carey Hart (Pink‘s husband – she asked him to marry her here a few years back.) We also have the Mammoth Wine Festival hosted by Dave McCoy‘s favorite charity Mammoth Lake Foundation raising funds to help with higher continuing education through the Cerro Coso Community College (did you know we have a junior college here in town?)

I also attended the local Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce last night – fun announcements were made from three different growing businesses! A local favorite, Bleu Handcrafted Foods will be supplying the Pokonobe Lodge in the Lakes Basin with fresh artisan sandwiches. You don’t need to travel all the way back into town after finishing your hike or catching some fish.  The Mammoth Brewing Company is now serving lunch and dinner at and their locale the “Eatery” – food that goes great with a Mammoth Brewery beer! Andspeaking of Mammoth Lakes Brewery, they are expanding their beer garden outside! It’s been so popular with guests, they are doubling its’ size (It’s a great people and traffic watching spot!) They have also remodeled their 3rd floor (with amazing Sierra views) to accommodate events for up to 200 people!  Weddings, business conferences & great beer! The updated Sierra Nevada Inn will be hosting Sunday Pool Parties – free to the public and locals alike, with a DJ and full bar(can we say party! on a Sunday afternoon!)

Looks like we’re in for another fun summer in Mammoth Lakes!!  For more information about all of the local events (especially for the week you’ll be up) check out www.VisitMammoth.com!

These are only some of the reasons I love to live in and sell Mammoth!
